Suno's drummer is reliable but unimaginative — it won't fill unless told, and it fills where it wants. Choreograph the drummer like a session player.
1. Place fills at transitions explicitly:
[Verse ends with a drum fill into the chorus]
[Drum fill leading into the bridge, big tom roll]
Fills live at section boundaries — tell Suno exactly which boundary.
2. Name the fill: snare roll build, big tom fill, crash on the downbeat — specific fill types render; 'drum fill' alone is a coin flip.
3. Banish random fills: Exclude drum fills in the verse, busy drums if fills are landing mid-section. Then allow them ONLY where you bracketed them.
4. Describe the drummer's style globally: tasteful session drummer, fills only at section changes, never over the vocal — one line that governs the whole song.
5. The DAW fix: stems out the drums, cut a fill from elsewhere in the song (or a sample), and paste it where you want it. Drummers are the easiest instrument to edit.
