'With harmonies' is too vague — Suno needs to know WHEN, WHO, and WHAT they're singing.
1. Bracket it explicitly:
[Chorus: lead vocal with layered backing harmonies, gospel choir behind]
'Layered' and 'behind' are the operative words — they tell Suno the backing is support, not a second lead.
2. Write the harmony lines. Don't just ask for harmonies — write them:
[Background: oohs and aahs, soft]
or actual words for the backing to sing. If the lyric only has one vocal line, Suno has nothing to harmonize.
3. Name the texture: gospel choir backing, doo-wop backing vocals, layered ethereal harmonies — each gives a different, reliable result. Pick one.
4. In Exclude if they take over: backing vocals louder than lead — keeps the lead on top.
5. The stems trick: generate the song once, then Cover just the chorus with same song, add rich backing choir and layer the two choruses in a DAW. Full control over the blend.
