This is Suno binding the voice and the lyrics together as one memory — it doesn't really separate 'the singer' from 'what they sang.' So when you reuse that voice, fragments of the old lyric ride along.
What fixes it:
1. Always start from Create, never Extend or Remix the old song. Extend and Remix carry the old lyric DNA with them. A fresh Create with the same voice description gives you the singer without the song.
2. Empty the lyrics box completely first. Don't paste over old text — select all, delete, then paste your new lyrics. Leftover whitespace and line breaks can pull old phrasing back in.
3. Change your opening line. The first line is where ghost lyrics almost always appear, because that's the strongest association. If the old song started 'Midnight on the highway,' don't start the new one anywhere near that.
4. Nudge the Style box. Add or change one descriptor word. That forces Suno to re-render the voice fresh instead of pulling the cached voice-plus-lyric bundle.
5. Nuclear option: generate the new song as an instrumental, then use Cover on it with your new lyrics. Cover re-sings from scratch and almost never ghosts.
