Suno locks tempo early and holds it — 'tempo change' reads as a suggestion it politely declines. The trick is asking for FEEL changes, not tempo changes.
1. Say 'feel,' not 'tempo':
[Bridge: half-time FEEL, spacious, drums slow to half-time groove]
'Feel' gets obeyed; 'tempo change' gets ignored. Same result, different vocabulary.
2. Describe what each instrument does:
[Bridge: drums drop to half-time, bass plays long whole notes, vocal floats over the top]
When you choreograph the instruments, the feel change happens automatically.
3. The slam-back:
[Final chorus: back to full driving tempo, double energy, drums slam back in]
The return hits hardest with a one-beat pause before it: [one beat of silence, then full band crashes back in].
4. DAW fallback: stems + time-stretch the bridge section to 0.5x feel (or just mute drums and let it breathe). Feel changes are easy to fake in editing.
5. Keep the actual BPM constant. Real tempo ramps mid-song confuse Suno's timing — feel changes give you the drama without the glitch.
