Yes — there's a practical lyric limit, and long lyrics don't just get cut, they get RUSHED (Suno speeds up to cram them in). Shorter lyrics = better songs, almost always.
1. The rule of thumb: if your lyrics look long on the page, they're too long. A 3-minute Suno song comfortably holds ~250-350 words. Past that, verses vanish.
2. Cut before you generate. Kill the weakest verse, trim repeated choruses, merge two thin verses into one strong one. Editing lyrics is free; regenerating isn't.
3. One idea per section. If your verse 2 says the same thing as verse 1 with different words, delete verse 2. Repetition of IDEAS (not hooks) is what bloats lyrics.
4. Split long songs across Extends. Write part 1 lyrics, generate, then Extend with part 2 lyrics. Each generation gets a comfortable lyric load.
5. Brackets don't count the same — but a lyric sheet that's 80% brackets and 20% lyrics confuses the structure. Keep brackets lean: one line per section.
