Playlists are the main discovery engine on Spotify, and you don't need connections — you need a system.
1. Pitch to Spotify editorial (free). In Spotify for Artists, pitch each release at least 2 weeks before it drops. Describe the song honestly: genre, mood, similar artists. Editorial placements are competitive but the pitch costs nothing.
2. Independent curators. SubmitHub and Groover let you pitch to playlist owners for a few dollars a submission. Target SMALL playlists (1k-20k followers) in your exact niche — conversion is way higher than swinging at the giants.
3. Build your own. Make public playlists around your niche, put your songs in naturally among others, share the playlist. Curators follow curators.
4. Feed the algorithm. Release Radar and Discover Weekly run on saves, playlist adds, and repeat listens. Every real fan who saves your song teaches Spotify who to show it to next.
5. NEVER pay for streams or botted playlists. Fake streams get detected, royalties withheld, and accounts penalized. One real fan beats ten thousand fake plays.
