The hard truth: good songs are the entry ticket, not the strategy. Audience-building is a separate skill — here's the system.
1. Pick a lane. 'AI artist' isn't a genre. Be the person who makes 'dark folk ballads about the sea' or '90s-style R&B slow jams.' Specificity is discoverable; generality is invisible.
2. Release consistently. Every 2-4 weeks. Each release is a lottery ticket for the algorithm AND a reason for a fan to stick around. (More on cadence in the release-schedule entry.)
3. Short-form video is the engine. TikTok/Reels/Shorts with a visualizer, lyric reveal, or 'watch me make this' clip. The song is the content — stop overthinking production value.
4. Go deep on ONE platform before spreading thin. Master TikTok OR YouTube OR Instagram. Cross-post later.
5. Engage like a human. Reply to comments, duet fans, join AI-music communities and give feedback. People follow people, not catalogs.
6. Play the long game. 6-12 months of consistent releases before you judge. Everyone's first 20 songs get 40 plays. Everyone.
